Kirtland, Ohio

After Toronto we drove down to Ohio.  We stayed in Cleveland and saw the Church history sites in Kirtland.

We made our way across the border and to Toronto.  We went and saw the Blue Jays play the Mariners.  Rogers Center where they play has a retractable roof and astro turf.  Right around the bases and pitching mound is dirt, but everywhere else is astro turf.  Another interesting thing about this stadium is that in the outfield they actually have a hotel.  So, people who were in the hotel could watch the game out their window, pretty cool!

Niagara Falls

After Palmyra we headed to Buffalo, New York and Niagara Falls. It was incredible!

Our Christmas Ornament and magnet from Niagara Falls. This is one of the coolest magnets that we have gotten so far. It is the boat that we rode on in the picture below.
This was on the Maid of the Mist. It was cool because we rode right up next to the falls. At one point it was so misty that you could barely see.

Next stop, Niagara Falls!

Palmyra

Our next stop was Palmyra, New York. While there we visited the homes of the Smith family.

The larger home the Smith family moved into.

We also visited the Sacred Grove, which is a short walk away from the houses.

Here is the Smith Log house where they lived before moving to the larger farmhouse. The Smith family had to move back into this house after some financial problems forced them to sell their larger home.

A first edition Book of Mormon on display at the publication site. The missionaries that gave us the tour said "don't you want to take a picture of it". I guess we had to.

Right down the street from the Book of Mormon printing site was an Italian restaurant. It was good, but all the missionaries were raving about it. I think it is just because there isn't anything else in the town.

Us outside of the Peter Whitmer house. This was a bit off of the beaten path, but was really nice, although the public health department had signs posted stating the water was unsafe to drink. That's what you get in farm country I guess...

Cooperstown

Before Kyle started his new job at the beginning of August we went on a baseball/church history tour. Our first stop was Cooperstown, New York and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Since we have been in St. Louis and now in New Jersey we have been trying to see as much of the country as we can. As we travel we like to buy Christmas ornaments, fridge magnets, and I of course have to try and find salt and pepper shakers.
